Negligence Causing Injury to Your Child During Childbirth

Childbirth can be the most natural and wonderful thing in the world, but when problems occur they can lead to devastating injuries and illnesses that can affect the child and the parents for the rest of their lives, in some cases even leading to premature death.

While mothers can sometimes have a difficult time during childbirth, new-born babies, in particular those who are born prematurely or in difficult circumstances, can be incredibly vulnerable to a range of issues that can sometimes occur during childbirth.

Brain Injury
New-born babies’ skulls are very delicate – they are designed to be flexible so that they can squeeze through the narrow birth canal and later give the child’s brain room to grow. Cerebral Palsy

Sometimes childbirth can be relatively simple, but commonly babies need some assistance during their arrival into the world. Sometimes a hand to squeeze and some reassuring words can be all that are needed to support the mother, but in more complicated situations there are a range of tools that might be used to help the child’s arrival. For a variety of tragic reasons, some children do not survive being born, or do not manage to live for very long after their birth.
